Korineum golf course

If you are planning a trip to North Cyprus and you are something of a golf fan then the Korineum golf course is worth considering as a good place to spend a day pottering around the greens and enjoying a round or two. The Korineum is Northern Cyprus’ first 18-hole golf course, as well as being one of this part of Cyprus’ most luxurious hotels. The 6,232 metre course is located in Esentepe at the foot of the Five Finger Mountain range and is one of the most beautiful locations on the island. The Mediterranean Sea is not far away and the Korineum has stunning views out towards the ocean, as well as across the nearby mountains. The course is regularly maintained and lushly green, surrounded by a natural forest filled with pine and olive trees.

The Course

The 18-Hole international standard Golf Course is Par 72 and was designed by David Hemstock Ltd, a company that has developed golf courses all over the world, from the UK to China. The Paspalum playing surface is consistently maintained to the Royal and Ancient Best Course Policy Initiative and there are plenty of challenges for golfers of all levels here, with bunkers and water hazards spread across the course.

In addition to the course, the Korineum has the Academy Driving Range, which is just under 300 metres long and has a number of features, including a dedicated bunker practice green. Lessons are available from PGA qualified Pros for those who want to brush up on their swing and there is also an academy which offers lots of different learning packages for individuals, families, groups and couples. At the on site Proshop you can pick up everything from clothing and accessories to bags and balls, from all the major brands

Fees

Fees at the Korineum vary between low season and high season and are usually slightly higher during peak season. It is slightly cheaper for members to play and if you are planning to play a lot of golf then membership might be an economical option. There are several types of membership that would work for visitors, including overseas membership and holiday membership. In high season, the full 18 holes will cost a non-member €75 and for 9 holes €40. Members’ guests pay €65 and €35 and juniors €35 or €20. In low season it’s €55 for 18 holes, or €30 for 9 holes for non-member players; €45 for 18 holes and €25 for 9 holes for members’ guests and juniors’ prices remain the same.

In addition to the course fees, there are other charges to bear in mind, including trolleys (€5 for everyone) and for buggies (€20 for 18 holes for a member and €25 for a non member).

The hotel

Outside of the impressive golf capacity, the Korineum is a great place to stay overnight if you are heading to Northern Cyprus on a golfing holiday. It is conveniently close to the course and has modern, well-equipped rooms and two restaurants, a lounge and a bar. There is also a spa on site that offers a range of massages and has a sauna and Jacuzzi where you can relax after a day out on the green. The hotel is well located for exploring North Cyprus on the days that you want to give golf a miss, as it is only 3km from Alagadi Beach and 12km from Kyrenia.
